Forsyth County Commission Tables Vote on New Inspection Fees

From the Winston-Salem Journal:

City-county inspections staff may have a headache to contend with Monday. While the city council approved a new tiered inspections fee structure in its budget a few weeks ago, the county commissioners tabled the item Thursday.

That means projects within the city limits and outside the limits will be under different fee schedules as of July 1 and will remain that way until the county votes otherwise…

The county commissioners were set to vote on the item last Thursday after making it through two commissioner briefings with little debate. But Forsyth County Commissioner Bill Whiteheart raised concerns about whether there was a discrepancy in the report given by staff that the change had been embraced by all the affected trade associations. Whiteheart said he had spoken with a few individuals who were not aware of the proposed increase in fees.
