Apartment Project Taking Shape Near BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem

Two real-estate developers are placing a $26 million wager that an upscale apartment complex will appeal to the young professionals and “millennials” working in and around downtown Winston-Salem.

Samet Corp. of Greensboro and Grubb Properties of Charlotte are collaborating on the Link Apartments Brookstown project, which is bordered by West First Street, Park Circle and Peters Creek Parkway…

The developers are building 205 studio and one- to two-bedroom units as part of creating what they are calling “the first institutional grade, ground-up apartment community in downtown.” Half of the units will be one bedroom…

The average studio will be about 600 square feet and the average bedroom unit will be about 775 square feet, said Rachel Russell, director of real-estate development for Grubb.

The average monthly rent will be about $1,090…

The complex will have about 250 spaces in a parking deck, a pool, 24-hour clubhouse, 24-hour fitness center and even an electric car charging station.
